O exemplary mother of the great St. Augustine, thou didst perseveringly pursue thy wayward son, not with wild threats but with prayerful cries to Heaven. Intercede for all mothers today, that they may learn to draw their children to God. Teach them to remain close to their children, even the prodigal sons and daughters who have sadly gone astray.
Dear St. Monica, troubled wife and mother, many sorrows didst pierce thy heart during thy lifetime, yet thou didst never despair or lose faith. With confidence, persistence and profound faith, thou didst obtain the conversions of thy beloved husband Patricius and thy beloved son, Augustine.
